Discover the 2019 BMW M2 Competition at BMW Competition
Up until now the BMW M2 has served as the compact powerhouse of BMW’s lineup. A small coupe with designed to deliver big power, it’s been a popular model for drivers who value high performance just as much as they value high style. While the M2 remains a beloved model, BMW is nonetheless replacing it with another car: the BMW M2 Competition.
An upgraded version of the M2, the 2019 BMW M2 Competition will bring a swathe of significant upgrades to the table, especially on the performance front. It’s not called the “Competition” for nothing, after all.
A Bevy of High-Performance Upgrades
What exactly will M2 Competition add to the M2’s already robust driving experience? A new engine, for one. Replacing its predecessor’s 365 horsepower 3.0-liter turbocharged inline-6 is an S55 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged inline-6. Transplanted from its larger siblings the BMW M3 and M4, this powerful engine packs a whopping 405 horsepower and 406 pounds-feet of torque under the M2 Competiton’s hood.
Paired with that power is a six-speed manual transmission. An optional seven-speed dual-clutch transmission is also available, for those who want it. If you’re reading this as a performance-driven driver, you probably know just how much fun that can all add up to. If you need a bit more proof however, consider that the M2 Competition will have a zero to 60 sprint of just 3.9 seconds. That’s a full millisecond faster than the older M2. It will also have a top speed of 155 miles per hour.

Better Braking and Active Safety Technology
A better performing engine won’t be the only thing the M2 Competition has going for it. The new performance coupe will also come with upgrades to its suspension and braking mechanisms. Pulling more components from the M3 and M4 cars, the M2 Competition will have high-performance struts that can help it come to a stop faster than the older M2 ever could. This can come in handy for those moments when the road throws something unexpected in your path.
In addition to good brakes, the M2 Competition can also come with active safety technology to help you avoid accidents before they happen. You can count on a forward collision system with pedestrian detection and automatic braking, as well as other valuable systems like lane departure warning. You will have plenty of tools available to keep you and everyone around you safe as you enjoy the road.
Superior Style is a BMW Standard
The M2 Competition will feature an interior that’s almost as impressive as the power packed under its hood. The driver and front passenger will enjoy a pair of front area sport buckets seats. You’ll also feel the of leather upholstery throughout, with carbon fiber trimming, and plenty of M2 Competition badging throughout. If you enjoyed the M2’s interior, you’ll enjoy the M2 Competition’s. Using its predecessor’s offerings as a template, this new model makes small-touch improvements that build on something that was already excellent to begin with.
