With 627 horsepower and 553 lb-ft of torque, BMW is proud to announce the quickest and most powerful BMW production vehicle ever. The 2022 M5 CS Sedan hits 0-60 mph in 2.9 seconds and reaches a top speed of 190 mph. The new limited production 2022 M5 CS Sedan is available only for the 2022 model year and will arrive in the U.S. in the second half of 2021. 2022 BMW M5 CS Sedan The quickest and most powerful BMW production vehicle ever. 627 hp and 553 lb.-ft. of torque. 230 lbs. lighter than M5 Competition. 0-60 mph in 2.9 seconds. Top speed of 190 mph. MSRP of $142,000 plus $995 Destination. Limited to one model year only. U.S. arrival 2nd half of 2021. The new limited production super sedan builds on the M5 with more power, greater performance, lighter weight, and exclusive interior features. The use of carbon fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP) materials improves the power-to-weight ratio to elevate the performance and to enhance its high street and track capabilities. And, for the first time, the M5 features a four-passenger seating configuration with M carbon sports seats up front and two individual bucket seats for the rear passengers. Power & Performance The S63 4.4-liter M TwinPower Turbo V8 has been redesigned to produce 627 hp at 6,000 rpm, which is 10 hp more than the Competition model. The model delivers 553 lb.-ft from 1,800 to 5,950 rpm, which is 90 rpm wider than the M5 Competition. The eight-cylinder’s engine redline is 7,200 rpm and the high-pressure direct fuel injection ensures precise fuel atomization and fast engine response. The 8-speed M Steptronic automatic transmission with Drivelogic and the M xDrive all-wheel-drive system allows the M5 CS to reach 60 mph in just 2.9 seconds, which is 0.2 seconds quicker than the M5 Competition model. The top speed with the standard M Driver’s Package is 190 mph. The driver can select from three xDrive modes including 4WD, 4WD Sport, and 2WD. The Dynamic Stability Control system can be adjusted between three settings to further enhance driver control – DSC ON, MDM (M Dynamic Mode), and DSC OFF. Exterior The 2022 M5 CS is designed with exterior carbon fiber reinforced plastics to help reduce its weight. CFRP components include the roof, hood with vents (in unpainted carbon-fiber), front splitter, mirror caps, rear diffuser, and rear spoiler. A special Gold Bronze finish is applied to the BMW kidney grille surround, to the model badging, and to the 20-inch forged light-alloy wheels. The engine cover with full-color M logo and stripes is also made from CFRP. The Adaptive LED headlights feature L-shaped light tubes that illuminate in a racing-inspired yellow instead of the standard white and include BWM Individual Shadowline trim. Exterior Colors The M5 CS is available in a standard Brands Hatch grey metallic paint with two optional BMW Individual colors – Frozen Brands Hatch grey metallic and Frozen Deep Green metallic. Standard M Carbon Ceramic Brakes For the first time, red six-piston fixed front calipers and single-piston rear floating calipers with M logos and carbon-ceramic brake discs are standard on the M5 CS. Gold calipers are also available as a no-cost option. The M Carbon ceramic brakes reduce the model’s weight by 51 lbs when compared to the standard M Compound brakes found on the M5 Competition model. Interior The most notable design inside the M5 CS Sedan is the seating-for-four configuration in black Merino leather with Mugello red accents and contrasting red stitching. The front seats feature new lightweight, heated, and electrically adjustable M carbon bucket seats. The two rear passengers each have their own individual seats. The headrests of all four seating positions are imprinted with a map of the Nurburgring’s Nordschleife which was integral to the M5 CS’s development. The M Alcantara steering wheel includes a perforated section with red background in the 12 o’clock position and lightweight carbon-fiber shift paddles with matching red trim in the cut-outs and on the back panels. The M seat belts are designed with BMW M tri-color stitching and the “M5” badge also appears on the velour M floor mats with bespoke piping and in the illuminated “M5 CS” badge on the door sill finishers. BMW decided to expand its U.S. portfolio with its second front-wheel-drive model ever to be sold in the United States. A more affordable, non-xDrive version joins the 2 Series Gran Coupe lineup. BMW is redefining the successful Sports Activity Vehicle (SAV) concept and creating a vehicle that provides something more than just mobility. The BMW iX is designed to create an exhilarating driving experience for drivers and passengers that is composed of a sense of wellbeing, safety, security, and luxury. The BMW iX goes into production at BMW Plant Dingolfing in the second half of 2021 and is scheduled to arrive in the U.S. in early 2022. BMW iX Design & Technology The BMW iX embodies the character of the BMW i brand whose mission is to transform personal mobility. BMW i plays a central role at the BMW Group as a “workshop for the future” and as a driver of innovation across the company. The iX will combine the company's latest developments in the strategic innovation fields of Design, Connectivity, Electrification, Digital Services, and Sustainability. Major focal points of the iX that showcase these innovations are optimized aerodynamics, intelligent lightweight Carbon Fiber Reinforced Plastic designs, as well as extensive uses of natural and recycled materials. Fifth-Generation BMW eDrive Technology The fifth generation of BMW eDrive technology delivers improved efficiency and performance. The power unit developed by the BMW Group is designed with two electric motors, power electronics, charging technology, and a high-voltage battery and is manufactured sustainably without the use of rare earth raw materials. From most recent calculations, this power unit will develop an output of around 500 horsepower and reach 62 mph in under 5.0 seconds. DC Fast Charging The new charging technology of the BMW iX enables DC fast charging at up to 200 kW. In just ten minutes, the battery can be charged with enough energy to increase the car's range by around 75 miles. The battery can be charged from 10 to 80 percent capacity in under 40 minutes.  It takes less than eleven hours to charge the high-voltage battery from 0 to 100 percent at an 11 kW Level 2 charging station. BMW Charging Powered by EVgo BMW is partnering with EVgo, the nation’s largest public fast-charging network and the first in the U.S. to be powered by 100% renewable energy. The new BMW Charging service will provide BMW EV and PHEV drivers with access to EVgo and partner charging network stations via an easy to use mobile app. BMW Charging Powered by EVgo will enable BMW drivers to see the real-time status of chargers, initiate a charging session, check their account status, and more. Intelligent New Kidney Grille The distinct BMW kidney grille and equally familiar twin headlights represent a new futuristic style. The kidney grille is completely closed off since the electric drive system of the iX requires only a small amount of cooling air. Instead, it functions as an intelligence panel with camera technology, radar functions, and other sensors. Sports Activity Vehicle Exterior Proportions The BMW iX combines fully electric all-wheel drive with the functionality of the BMW X5, with the sporting nature of the BMW X6 and with the visual impact of the BMW X7. Its wheelbase measures 118-inches and its wide front and rear tracks provide luxurious long-distance comfort and sporty driving characteristics. Panoramic Glass Roof with Electrochromic Shading An available panoramic glass roof features a large single-piece transparent surface that spans the entire interior. The panoramic glass roof enhances the sense of spaciousness and maximizes the headroom for passengers by removing the need for an interior shade liner. Instead, the new glass roof features electrochromic shading which can be activated at the press of a button to shield the interior from direct sunlight. Aerodynamically Optimized Exterior Mirrors The exterior mirrors on the BMW iX have been designed to help reduce wind noise, optimize aerodynamics, and improve visibility. Interior The interior of the iX creates a modern yet luxurious lounge-style ambiance and is designed with minimalistic designs, vast amounts of room, high-quality materials, new seating, and a panoramic glass roof. The displays and controls are all stripped down to their essentials and emphasize an uncluttered and relaxed cabin. The all-new second-generation BMW 4 Series Convertible gets more style, power, torque, and performance as well as the latest safety, driver assist, and infotainment technologies. The market launch for Rear-Wheel Drive models is set for March 2021 and July 2021 for xDrive models. MSRP starts at $53,100 for the 430i Convertible plus $995 Destination. BMWUSANEWS shares with us everything we need to know about the New 2021 BMW 4 Series Convertible. 2021 BMW 4 Series Convertible Exterior The exterior design of the new 4 Series Convertible shows the new model’s very clean and minimalist classic lines. The new 2021 4 Series Convertible is 5.2-inches longer (5.3-inches for M440i models), 1.0-inches wider, and 0.1-inch higher. It also has a 1.6-inch longer wheelbase than its previous generation. The front track is 1.5-inches wider and gives off a more aggressive stance of the low-slung open-top cars. New Soft-Top Design The new second-generation 4 Series Convertible gets a newly designed soft-top. Compared to the hardtop from the previous generation, the new soft-top is approximately 40 percent lighter and helps reduce weight, increase cargo space, and lower the center of gravity for improved handling. Soft-top roof color choices include standard black and an optional Moonlight black which gives the fabric a classy metallic shimmer. New Kidney Grille Design The front end of the 4 Series features a striking new BMW kidney grille design which allows for better airflow in order to meet engine cooling requirements. M Sport Package Exterior The M Sport Package includes a unique front bumper design with larger air intake openings as well as a newly designed rear bumper with Shadowline inlays. The rear diffuser panel, front air intake trim, side window moldings, and lower exterior mirror housings are all finished in high-gloss black. The optional Shadowline Package includes a high-gloss black finish to the kidney grille, exhaust tip trim, and a black finish to the mirror caps. 2021 M440i and M440i xDrive Convertible Exterior The M440i and M440i xDrive Convertibles’ kidney grille, front air intake trim, exterior mirror caps, and rear trapezoidal exhaust tip trim feature a Cerium Grey finish. Power & Performance All models of the new 4 Series gain a boost in horsepower and torque compared to previous-generation models. The new 430i and 430i xDrive Convertibles is powered by an updated B46 2.0-liter 4-cylinder BMW TwinPower turbocharged engine that delivers 255 horsepower @ 5,000 – 6,500 rpm (an increase of 7 horsepower) and 295 ft-lbs. of torque @ 1,550 – 4,400 rpm (an increase of 37 ft-lbs.). The 430i Convertible accelerates from 0 to 60 mph in 5.9 seconds and reaches an electronically limited top speed of 155 mph or 130 mph depending on the selected wheel and tire combination. The new M440i and M440i xDrive Convertibles are powered by the B58 3.0-liter inline 6-cylinder BMW TwinPower turbocharged engine that produces 382 horsepower @ 5,800 – 6,500 rpm (an increase of 62 horsepower) and 369 ft-lbs. of torque @ 1,800 – 5,000 rpm (an increase of 39 ft.-lbs.). The M440i Convertible accelerates from 0 to 60 mph in 5.0 seconds and can reach an electronically limited top speed of 155 mph or 130 mph depending on the selected wheel and tire combination. Drive Systems & Transmission The new BMW 4 Series Convertibles are available in a choice of either traditional rear-wheel drive or BMW’s latest intelligent xDrive all-wheel-drive system which offers additional traction during both performance driving and in varied weather conditions. All 4 Series models are equipped with a standard 8-speed sport automatic transmission with launch control. The M440i and M440i xDrive Convertibles also include a standard rear M Sport differential which helps improve traction and is optional on the 430i and 430i xDrive models. The latest version of BMW’s quick-shifting Sport automatic transmission features a new, optimized hydraulic control system for improved response and efficiency. New 48-Volt Mild Hybrid System A new 48-volt mild-hybrid system is standard on the 6-cylinder M440i and M440i xDrive Convertibles. The 48-volt starter/generator unit is complemented by a separate 48-volt battery which allows for energy recuperation, storage, and use during driving. Energy can be recuperated from deceleration, braking, and from excess electricity generated while driving in Sport mode. Driver Assistance Systems The 2021 BMW 4 Series Convertible is equipped with standard assist features such as lane departure warning with steering correction; frontal collision; pedestrian warning with braking function; blind-spot detection; rear cross-traffic alert; rear collision preparation, automatic high beams; and speed limit information. Optional on the new 4 Series is the Driving Assistance Professional Package which adds Active Cruise Control with Stop & Go and Extended Traffic Jam Assist. The optional Parking Assistance Package includes a panorama view and 3D surround camera views to assist with parking.
