Smart Key Battery Replacement To replace your BMW Smart Key Battery, you will need a CR2450 battery. Remove metal key blade from the key fob Remove back cover Remove old BMW key battery Replace with a new battery Comfort Access BMW Key Battery Replacement This key is used in many BMW models including 1, 3, 5, 7, X3, X5, X6 Series. To replace your Comfort Access BMW Key Battery, you will need a CR2032 battery. If your key won’t open, you may have the non-comfort access version which has a built-in rechargeable battery. Press the small tab in the key fob and pull to remove the valet key After the valet key is removed, you will notice a small access port on the key fob. Use the valet key or a flat screwdriver to remove the key battery cover. Once removed, you will see the battery. Remove the dead battery and replace it with a new one. Non-Comfort Access Key Battery Replacement If you have a BMW key that has a side indent, this means you have a rechargeable battery. Therefore, you cannot open the battery case. This battery charges when it is inserted in the ignition. If the battery has completely died which is typical on a 10-year old car, you can open the case but it will require cutting the plastic part of the key. When your tires wear down to the point where your wear bars are at the same height as your tread, they no longer meet the minimum required tread depth and the tires must be replaced. When the tire treads are worn down, it is dangerous and can be illegal. With worn down tread, your tires are more prone to losing traction in rain or snowy weather. When the water cannot escape, the tire floats on the water, which causes hydroplaning, making the driver lose control of the vehicle. There are several ways to check your tire tread depth, the most popular and well known being the penny test. To perform the penny test, turn a penny upside down and insert it in between your tire treads. If all of Lincoln's head is exposed, it's time to replace your tires. This trick is fool-proof because there is 1/16 of an inch between the top of Lincoln's head and the edge of the penny, which is the minimum legal limit for tread depth.
