2023 BMW X7 vs. 2023 Maserati Grecale

The 2023 BMW X7 is a top tier sport utility vehicle with a cabin as quiet as a library, satin smooth handling and multiple powertrain choices. But how does it compare to the 2023 Maserati Grecale, a fabulous Italian masterpiece with a formidable V6, balanced handling and high end interior?

Design & Style

The Grecale is the smaller sibling of the Maserati Levante yet maintains its own distinctive flair. It has a bulbous frame with a unique grille in front and all-wheel drive has been standardized. The company plans to release a fully electric version in 2024 called the Grecale Folgore, but in the meantime this year’s model comes with a high tech cabin and swanky cabin that can hold five passengers.

The X7 seats up to seven people and is considered BMW’s preeminent SUV. As such it is equipped with the auto industry’s most advanced features, such as powered seats that have memory settings, heads up display, soft shut doors, Vernasca style leather upholstery, and a whole lot more. Both its dashboard and front end have been revised to make it more posh and convenient, and it comes with twenty one inch wheels that can be upgraded to twenty three inches if desired.

Technology & Safety

The BMW X7 is equipped with the auto industry’s most cutting edge technology, which includes lane departure alerts, multiple airbags, notifications for cross traffic in the rear, blind area monitoring, emergency automated brakes and more. Its cabin luxuries include climate control, fifteen inch touch displays, rotary knob, wifi, a Harmon Kardon audio system and proprietary feature called Digital Key that enables drivers to remotely control the vehicle’s function through its smartphone app.

The Maserati Grecale comes with all the safety gear found in the BMW, including emergency automated brakes, frontal collision alert, blind area monitoring and more. Luxuries inside its cabin consist of a twenty one speaker sound system from Sonus Faber, Amazon Alexa, voice commands, twelve inch touch display, Google Assistant, climate control and wifi.

Performance

Those that purchase the Maserati Grecale Trofeo will get a V6, 3 liter, dual turbo engine that can generate 523 horsepower with the ability to accelerate from 0 to 60 in just 4 seconds, with a maximum top speed of 177 mph. Those that purchase the BMW Alpina XB7 will get a V8 engine that is specially tuned and capable of generating 630 horsepower with the ability to accelerate from zero to sixty in 4 seconds with a top speed of 180 mph.

The Bottom Line

The BMW X7 seats more passengers than the Maserati and has superior horsepower and top speed. And this combined with the Grecale four cylinder engine’s tendency to grumble while idle along with its excessively light steering and grabby brakes make the BMW X7 the winner.
