2022 BMW X3 vs. 2022 Volvo V60

There are so many SUV options on the market these days, and it can be hard to decide which one will fit your lifestyle best. You may be deciding between the BMW X3 and the Volvo V60, two very different models that provide their benefits. Whichever one you choose will be the right choice for you, but some factors might make one of them even better. Find out what you need to know about the 2022 BMW X3 and the 2022 Volvo V60 before buying one, and how the 2022 BMW X3 may be best for you!

Design & Style

The first thing that strikes you about these two models is how remarkably different they look from one another, despite both being crossover utility vehicles (CUVs). The manufacturers have aimed their designs at different ends of what’s possible for a CUV, which means both remain appealing to wide audiences despite their differences. With its boxy shape and low-profile wheels, the Volvo model has a staid look but adds some style with an upside-down grille on its front end, plus unique mirrors on each side of its body.

Both 2022 BMW X3 and 2022 Volvo V60 seat five people, but each interior has a difference. In the 2022 BMW X3 you can find a driver seat with a massage function for the driver’s legs and back or heated seats. The touch screen of the entertainment system is positioned in front of the driver so he will be able to use it with no distraction from other persons sitting in passenger seats. On the other hand, 2022 Volvo has a bigger space between the first and second row so passengers can have a more comfortable position while sitting there or have enough space for big carry-on bags to be stored under those two rows of seats.

 Technology & Safety

Each vehicle offers similar levels of safety, with airbags for all passengers, electronic stability control, anti-lock brakes, and hill hold assist. Both are available with active cruise control, which maintains a safe distance from traffic ahead of you when driving at speeds up to 130 km/h. Beyond these technologies, both offer additional driver assistance systems depending on trim level and features packages. Active lane-keeping assist is included in comfort packages for both cars, while lane departure warning is an optional feature on both models’ high-end luxury packages. BMW gives its driver more options for security systems. At the same time, Volvo does not offer anything beyond that found in base trim levels – protection systems are comparable between each company’s package offerings. Still, availability varies between trims within each model line-up.

Performance

The 2022 version of both models come with a supercharged 3.0L motor capable of reaching 250 hp in both models with an output torque of 320 lb-ft in 2022 BMW X3 and 325 lb-ft in 2022 Volvo V60 with two stages turbocharging. Their hybrid motors are also quite powerful, rated at 185hp combined, giving each vehicle 280 lb-ft of torque to play around with. Both cars also use direct injection for their engines, so you can expect great performance but low emissions over their lifetime. Both will get good gas mileage, too, averaging 25mpg for both vehicles on local roads and 27mpg on highways, respectively.

 The Bottom Line

We put these two vehicles head-to-head in terms of performance, comfort, convenience, and safety to determine which one is worth buying in 2022. Our results show that they are comparable in some ways but have significant differences in important factors like fuel economy and backseat roominess. When you factor in all our findings, we believe that the 2022 BMW X3 is a better choice for most drivers compared to the 2022 Volvo V60.
