The new 2022 BMW M4 and the 2022 Infiniti Q60 are two of the hottest cars on the market. Both are sporty, stylish, and fast. But which one is better? We’ll compare their features, performance, price range, and overall appeal to help you decide which car is right for you!
Design & Style
The 2022 BMW M4 has a classic coupe design with a more muscular and aggressive look. The front end features a large air intake flanked by two vertical LED headlamps and an extra-large trapezoidal grille. The rear fascia has LED taillamps that blend into the bodywork seamlessly, giving it an aerodynamic appearance.
The Infiniti Q60’s exterior design focuses more on aerodynamics than aesthetics or performance flair. Its upper grille sports horizontal slats instead of vertical ones, while its tail lamps are also shaped differently than those of the M4—with their tops cut off so as not to block airflow as much when they’re open (which they’re always open).
The BMW M4’s interior design is a bit more modern and spacious than the Infiniti Q60. The BMW M4 also has a little bit more luxurious feel to it, with nicer materials throughout. If you’re planning to take your car on long road trips, then you’ll probably appreciate the added comfort that comes from better seats and better ergonomics in general. Additionally, both cars offer pretty good driver visibility—the main difference here is that the Infiniti Q60 offers unique color schemes and trim options in some trims that give it an edge over the BMW M4 regarding style (but not usability).
Technology & Safety
This category is a toss-up, but the 2022 BMW M4 offers more. While they are equipped with advanced safety systems, such as adaptive cruise control and lane departure warning technology, the BMW M4 takes it one step further. It also comes with autonomous braking and blind spot monitoring, which Infiniti does not offer on the Q60.
Regarding infotainment systems, you’ll get more if you go with the BMW M4. The BMW M4 has Apple CarPlay compatibility and an 8-inch touchscreen display that supports gesture controls for easy driving operation (a feature, unfortunately, lacking from any car). In addition, BMW’s iDrive system offers navigation services through TomTom Live Services and real-time traffic updates, so you can plan for rush hour or construction zones on your route. In contrast, Infiniti doesn’t offer Apple CarPlay compatibility or any other navigation service beyond its app market; instead, you get a 7-inch touchscreen display that supports gesture control only when parked—not while driving!
Performance
The base engine in the Infiniti Q60 is a 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged V6 that produces 350 horsepower and 369 pound-feet of torque. BMW M4 has a 3.0-liter turbocharged inline 4 with 473 horsepower and 406 pound-feet of torque, which means it’s going to be quicker off the line than the Infiniti—but we’ll get into that later.
The Infiniti also comes with all-wheel drive as standard equipment, while the BMW M4 offers rear-wheel drive. If you want an all-wheel drive in your next sports car, you’ll have to look elsewhere—it doesn’t exist for this particular model (at least not yet).
The only transmission offered on both cars is an 8-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters for manual control when desired; however, just because they’re both offered doesn’t mean they’re equal performers: The BMW M4 wins hands down here thanks to its 7-launch gear speed compared to the 4-speed launch gear on the Infiniti Q60.
The Bottom Line
The 2022 BMW M4 wins because it has more power and a luxurious cabin. The 2022 Infiniti Q60 is good but not as powerful or comfortable as its German rival.
