2021 BMW X2 vs. 2021 Cadillac XT4

The 2021 BMW X2 delivers a thrilling ride in one beautifully designed yet ergonomic package. The car features a sportier look than the 2021 BMW X1 and the sloping roofline adds a racier look than what you can expect in other crossovers in its category. Despite this sporty look, space is plentiful inside the cabin and passengers can look forward to a comfortable ride even on extended trips.

The 2021 Cadillac XT4 is also a subcompact crossover with plenty to offer drivers. Unlike the curvy 2021 BMW X2, the 2021 XT4 has a sharp-edged design and features a more conservative look. This gives it a more dated appearance than most of its direct competitors. Here is how these two SUVs compare to each other.

Design & Style

For 2021, the BMW X2 features a series of new updates that are sure to thrill any discerning driver. The 2021 model comes with a fresh new grille as well as more options on wheel designs. With the Edition M variant comes M-Sport wheels and a host of other exciting features.

As mentioned earlier, the 2021 XT4 features a more conservative design, which is quite surprising given the sporty looks of all its competing models. Although not bad looking,  the 2021 Cadillac XT4 does look rather old fashioned. The interior is fairly comfortable although some of the materials used in the cabin have a less-than-premium feel to them.

Technology & Safety

When it comes to tech and safety features, owners of the 2021 BMW X2 have plenty to choose from. The 2021 X2 features an 8.8-inch infotainment system that is powered by BMW’s iDrive software. The system is responsive and intuitive making operations a breeze. The car also features a standard is a seven-speaker audio system which is pretty good. Those looking for even better audio systems can opt for the Harman/Kardon audio system upgrade.

Wit the 2021 Cadillac XT4, infotainment is via an 8.0-inch display that offers both voice and knob controls. A seven-speaker audio system is standard. The infotainment system is operated via Cadillac’s CUE software which is nowhere near as good as the iDrive software on the 2021 X2.

Performance

Under the hood, owners of the 2021 BMW X2 get a four-cylinder turbocharged engine that produces about 228 horsepower. This is plenty of power to make the 2021 X2 fast and nimble around corners. The engine is controlled by an automatic 8-speed transmission that is pretty impressive.

The 2021 Cadillac XT4 is powered by a four-cylinder engine that produces about 200 hp. While this is adequate to provide for a smooth drive, it is not in any way sporty as Cadillac often says in their adverts. The car is fine for ordinary driving though. Handling is also a little problematic thanks to the boxy shape of the 2021 XT4.

The Bottom Line

While these two cars look and feel executive, the 2021 BMW X2 is the only one that can truly claim to be premium. Thanks to its beautiful exterior design, superior interior design, and excellent performance, the 2021 BMW X2 easily wins this comparison.
