In the world of high-performance cars, the 2021 BMW M5 brings to the table superb performance and other features. For example, the 2021 M5 comes with an advanced all-wheel system that is purposely tuned for racing. The 2021 M5 also features a sophisticated traction control system as well as other racing features.
The 2021 Lexus GS is a luxury sedan that offers a host of luxury features and a sporty performance. While the 2021 GS is certainly a contender in this class, performance is nowhere near comparable to the BMW M5. Lexus may have recognized this and hence the F-Sport variant of the GS. Still, the 2021 Lexus GS struggles against other luxury sports sedans in this category.
Design & Style
With LED ambient lighting and refreshed headlights, the 2021 BMW X5 is a great looking car that stands out in any parking lot. The M5 features sports seats as well as a spacious cabin. This makes the sporty 2021 M5 very practical as it can be used for everyday activities.
The 2021 Lexus GS is also a great looking car although not much has been changed from the 2021 variant. With LED headlights and a spacious interior, the GS is a comfortable car to drive and offers generous trunk space as well.
Technology & Safety
For tech and safety features, owners of the 2021 BMW M5 get a 12.5-inch infotainment display. Like in all other M series, the display is located on the top of the dashboard and slightly angled towards the driver for easier operations. The system incorporates voice input, allowing for easier use while on the road.
The 2021 Lexus GS similarly has a 12.3 infotainment system that incorporates touch and voice commands. The standard audio system is not as good as that in other cars in this category but Lexus provides an upgrade option.
Under the hood, the 2021 BMW M5 is impressive. The base model features a 4-liter turbocharged V8 engine that churns out over 600hp. Naught to sixty is achieved in under three seconds. If you want more power, BMW offers a more powerful M5 variant under the Competition badge which delivers even better performance.
The 2021 Lexus GS is powered by a V6 turbocharged engine that turns out 311hp. This is significantly less than that of the M5. While the engine is fairly powerful, the 2021 GS is not a sports car in the true sense of the word.
The Bottom Line
While the BMW M5 is a true sports car, the 2021 GS looks like one but the performance is way below par. Aside from this, the 2021 BMW M5 is well designed and has a luxurious cabin. The Lexus GS struggles with less-than-premium materials in the cabin. For this reason, the 2021 BMW M5 is the clear winner in this comparison.
