The 2021 BMW 5-Series is a magnificent car with multiple engine options, advanced technology, and track level acceleration and speed. Design & Style
The Porsche 718 is a two seater that comes in the form of a roadster or coupe. It has a smooth and sleek exterior with adaptive style bi-xenon lights in front and cooling ducts in back. It sits on eighteen inch wheels and passengers within the cabin will be presented with sporty seats that can be heated, a seven inch touch display, and leather upholstery which looks and feels great.
A number of tech upgrades have been made to the newest BMW 5-Series. These include a hybrid forty eight volt powertrain, a touch display and infotainment system increased to 12 inches, and various driver assistance improvements. It has a sporty exterior with the classic kidney grille in front and the trunk lid is now power operated. The front seats are multi contoured and can be adjusted twenty different ways.
Technology & Safety
The BMW 5-Series is rich in safety tech. it provides semi-autonomous operation which is navigation based and also comes with blind area monitoring, emergency automated brakes which are standardized, pedestrian detection and alerts for cross traffic behind the vehicle. Luxuries within the cabin include Bluetooth, satellite Sirius XM radio, and the choice of Android Auto or Apple CarPlay, USB port, ventilated seats and climate control.
The Porsche 718 doesn’t come with many active safety functions. However, it does have emergency automatic brakes, blind area monitoring and cruise control. Luxuries within its cabin include climate control which covers two zones, mirrors which dim automatically, heated seats, Apple CarPlay and seven inch touch displays.
Those that purchase the Porsche 718 Spyder will get a flat 6, 4 liter engine that can generate 414 horsepower which enables it to accelerate from zero to sixty in 4.2 seconds. The Bottom Line
The BMW 5-Series outclasses the Porsche 718 in almost every way. Though both cars are tied when it comes to 0 to 60 acceleration time, the BMW seats five while the Porsche 718 seats two, and the BMW has larger touchscreens with far more safety features, which makes it the winner.
