2020 BMW X6 vs 2019 Chevy Tahoe

The 2020 BMW X6 impresses with a powerful engine, swift acceleration and smooth handling. Its flashy sporty exterior is well reflective of its interior quality. Blend all these features along with the advanced safety features, high-end tech and commendable infotainment system and the end result is a scintillating cocktail with a powerful yet grave quiet engine. Its close competitor the 2019 Chevrolet Tahoe lags behind in nearly all notable aspects from speed and comfort all the way too fuel efficiency and safety.

Design & Style

The 2020 BMW X6 has a flashy exterior that is made up of a sloping roofline and a subtle rear end. There is plenty of premium materials in the cabin that add to its luxurious look and feel. It shares its design with the X5.  This luxurious car offers features such as ambient interior lighting, heated front seats, a panoramic sunroof and keyless entry.

The 2019 Chevrolet Tahoe seats up to nine people. It has a cabin that is solidly built and made up of soft-touch materials. However, there are a number of hard plastics here and there that lower the interior quality. While cloth seats are standard, leather upholstery is also available as an option.

Technology & Safety

The iDrive infotainment system comes standard on the 2020 BMW X6. This system has two 12.3-inch screens that cater for the gauge cluster as well as the infotainment system. Navigation is among the large number of features that come standard. Optional features include Wi-Fi hotspot, 4-zone automatic climate control and wireless charging. The 2020 BMW X6 has incorporated plenty of driver assistance tech such as lane departure warning, blind spot monitoring and automated emergency braking. Adaptive cruise control is among the available safety features.

The 2019 Chevrolet Tahoe has the Chevrolet infotainment system that comes with an average 8-inch display. Available features are rear-seat DVD player, navigation, a 10-speaker audio system as well as wireless charging. Standard safety features for the Chevy include a rearview camera, teen driver system and rear parking sensors. Available features are lane departure warning, blind spot monitoring, adaptive cruise control, and lane keep assist.

The 2020 BMW X6 is gifted with a base turbocharged 335-hp inline-6 engine. It also comes with the option of a twin-turbocharged V-8 engine with 523 horsepower. The sporty X6 accelerates effortlessly and its smooth handling ensures a comfortable ride.

The 2019 Chevy Tahoe is powered by a 355-hp 5.3-liter V-8 engine that mates with a six-speed automatic transmission. A more potent 420-hp V-8 engine with a 10-speed automatic transmission is also available. However, the Tahoe doesn’t live up to its reputation when it comes to handling and comfort. It suffers the shortcomings of a pickup truck that compromise its ride on uneven surfaces.

The Bottom Line

The 2020 BMW X6 is a masterpiece that really knows how to impress. It is not only stylish but also powerful with great performance. To top that off is the classy cabin, advanced safety equipment and top quality tech that make the X6 the best of its class. Now, that does not mean that the 2019 Chevrolet Tahoe is bad, it is great. Unfortunately its quality is just not up to the standards set by the 2020 BMW X6.
