The 2020 BMW M5 is an all-round great car, boasting an excellent engine and interior. The introduction of the new four-wheel in the M5 series has made driving even more thrilling. The 2021 Nissan GT-R delivers excellent engine performance for a fraction of the price of other supercars.
Here is a comparison between both cars.
Design & Style
The use of upscale leather along edges of the 2020 BMW M5 gives the interior an absolutely luxurious look. The use of bolstered sport seats and cushioned armrest has made riding the M5 extremely comfortable. With the numerous adjustments for the steering wheel and seat, you can feel extremely comfortable, even when going on long rides. With tactile controls and the excellent layout of the dashboard, the controls are easy to use and exudes a professional look.
The 2021 Nissan GT-R comes with electric heated leather seats as standard. While most of the instruments are mostly there when it comes to its dashboard, it exudes a rather outdated and even antiquated look. The dashboard is also trimmed in nappa leather and carbonfibre trimmings, which gives it a lift in its quality.
Technology & Safety
The iDrive infotainment system on the 2020 BMW M5 is simply excellent and easy to use. This system offers many exciting features! Some of these include BMW’s personal assistant and gesture controls, which has made it even easier to use. Featured on a 10.3-inch screen and controlled using rotary dials, the system is easy to use and is certainly a great companion to this excellent car. Besides the standard safety features, the M5 has electronic Stability Control, BMW Assist and blind spot detectors in place.
Displayed on an 8.0-inch color display is the infotainment system on the 2021 Nissan GT-R. Compared to the likes of BMW and Audi, it is not sophisticated looking and looks rather dated. The interface is rather slow at times and doesn’t have the same functionalities that many of their competitors do. One great function of the infotainment system is that it can display car gauges such as the turbo-boost pressure, engine condition and transmission condition. Additional safety features in the GT-R are Tire Pressure Monitoring System, Vehicle Dynamic Control and traction control system.
Performance
The base eight-cylinder 4.4-liter turbocharged engine in the 2020 BMW M5 can produce up to a mighty 600-horsepower. As compared to the 2021 Nissan GT-R, the base six-cylinder 3.8-litre turbocharged engine produces up to 565 horsepower. The V-6 engine on the GT-R certainly doesn’t sound as sweet as compared to the M5’s engine. On the GT-R, the engine can kick up quite a bit of road noise.
The Bottom Line
The 2021 Nissan GT-R offers great engine performance for the fraction of the price of many popular sport cars today. From this comparison, however, it is obvious that the GT-R pales in comparison to the 2020 BMW M5 for a multitude of reasons – more engine, design and infotainment system. The 2020 BMW M5 is just that much better!
