With the introduction of the new 4-wheel drive system in the 2020 BMW M5, the M5 has better traction on roads and can achieve insane acceleration timings. The 2021 Mercedes-Benz AMG E63 S has impeccable engine performance and is a great car as well.
Here is a comparison between both cars.
Design & Style
Despite being able to accelerate faster than other supercars, the 2020 BMW M5 hasn’t compromised on space. There is sufficient legroom and lateral support for up to 5 passengers. The bolstered sport seats and cushioned armrest on the M5 proves to be very comfortable for long drives. The addition of various seat and steering wheel adjustments allow for a more comfortable ride. With leather trimmings along every edge of the cockpit, it gives an impeccably luxurious feel to the cabin.
There are many AMG-inspired elements found in the dashboard design of the 2021 Mercedes-Benz AMG E63 S, providing a sporty. Supportive seats with lumbar support and electric adjustments comes standard in the E63 S, providing comfort for long drives. There is plenty of legroom for passengers and large amount of space in the boot to fit in other items as well. Our only qualm about its interior would be the lack of legroom for drivers with larger feet.
Technology & Safety
The standard Harman Kardon Stereo system sounds pretty awesome on the 2020 BMW M5. This compliments well with the excellent iDrive infotainment system on the M5. The system has numerous applications and has many exciting features! Some of these features include BMW personal assistant and gesture controls, which has made using the interface even more intuitive and easy to use. In addition to the standard safety features, the M5 has electronic Stability Control, BMW Assist and blind spot detectors in place.
The MBUX infotainment system is excellent on the 2021 Mercedes-Benz AMG E63 S. Providing satellite navigation, radio and information on the car’s performance, it’s an excellent companion for drivers. The display that features the infotainment system is crisp and huge. However, the system isn’t as responsive or intuitive as compared to BMW’s iDrive or Audi’s MMI systems. Some addition safety features include lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist and automated emergency braking.
Performance
The base eight-cylinder 4.4-liter turbocharged engine in the 2020 BMW M5 can produce up to a mighty 600-horsepower. As compared to the 2021 Mercedes-Benz AMG E63 S, the base eight-cylinder 4.0-litre turbocharged engine produces up to 603 horsepower. Both cars have the four-wheel drive system as standard in each model, giving the car greater stability and traction. However, it has to be said that the M5 is still a pinch snappier in its steering as compared to the E63 S.
The Bottom Line
The 2021 Mercedes-Benz AMG E63 S is beloved by many for its fantastic quality and great engine. From this comparison, however, it is obvious that the E63 S pales in comparison to the 2020 BMW M5 for a multitude of reasons – better infotainment system, snappier steering and excellent design. The 2020 BMW M5 is just that much better!
