The 2020 BMW 7-Series is a BMW classic with massive changes made. It is the old signature design evolving into something more modern and the best, this large luxury sedan holds many impressive traits.
When it comes to the 2020 Genesis G80, it provides a stealthy driving experience but do not expect any major changes from the previous lineup.
Design & Style
The BMW 7-Series, as mentioned above, has a new design. With more defined LED headlights, a 40% larger kidney grille to complement a larger front of the car, the sedan achieves an aggressive aesthetic. The interior is as alluring as the exterior is aggressive, looking very opulent with its design and spacious layout. Better yet, the sedan is designed with the comfort of all passengers in mind, hence it can sit up to five people with a spacious 44.4 inch legroom, and there are four large doors, hence passengers at the back to board the car with ease. You can customize the interior design with various types of leather, color, and even stitching style.
The exterior of the Genesis G80 resembles an European style, and the interior is also the same. Its Nappa-leather seats and beige color adds to the rich grand feeling you will experience. The Genesis G80 can also sit up to five people, and its interior space is an improvement from the previous series. However, taller passengers sitting at the back may feel some slight discomfort where the legroom is only 35 inches, way more cramped than the 44.4 inch legroom that the BMW 7-Series offers.
Technology & Safety
With a multi-functioning steering wheel, 360-degree camera, automated parking assist, and automatic four-zone climate control, the BMW M7-Series is filled with safety features. Its driver’s assist system uses the BMW’s Active Driving Assistant that comes with lane-keeping assist, forward collision warning, lane departure warning, evasive steering and active cruise control with stop and go, and even a night camera to detect pedestrians and road blocks.
The Genesis G80 managed to squeeze in many technology elements such as rain-sensing window wipers, automatic trunk lid, driver memory function, heated 12-way power adjustable front seats. There is also an auto-dimming rearview mirror and climate-control. However, it is missing a night vision camera and an automatic parking assist.
Performance
The BMW 7-Series has a range of engines with different power levels and with the same eight-speed automatic transmission, starting from the lowest turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six that can already produce an amount of 335 horsepower for the 740i, up to a 6.6-liter V12 powertrain, producing a whooping amount of 600 horsepower. In the case of the Genesis G80, it falls short with its 3.3 to 3.8-liter twin-turbo V6 producing 365 horsepower.
The Bottom Line
There may be some aspects with which the 2020 Genesis G80 will impress car lovers out there, such as engine power and a cheaper option. However, the BMW 7-Series has proven to be more versatile in its comfort, function, speed, and safety.
