2019 BMW X6 vs. 2020 Porsche 911

There’s no doubt about it – 2019 BMW X6 was designed to stand out with its impressive performance and extravagant design. Its boldness, just like its agility and handling, is unmistakable. From its chiseled profile to its couple like roofline, 2019 BMW X6 sends a message of eminence, prestige and power.

Porsche remains one of BMW’s most notable nemeses. They have come really close with 2020 Porsche 911. The car’s ethereal performance and unmistakable styling has threatened to knock off BMW’s dominance in terms of performance and agility. Of course it hasn’t succeeded.

Design & Style

With a mix of upscale materials and luxurious features, the 2019 BMW X6 delivers an elegant experience without struggling. Its dash features a cool digital gauge cluster designed to change color with the drive mode you select. The car oozes intricate, well thought and detailed craftsmanship. For instance, you will notice a compartment beneath the dash near the driver’s left knee as well as useful bins on each side of the read outboard seats – minor yet thoughtful details.

911’s interior continues to look complicated rather than sophisticated with a blend of physical controls and for the very first time ever – a sizeable center cup holder. The gauge cluster also veers off Porsche’s tradition by ditching the mainly analog instruments in favor of digital ones. The design is as already mentioned, complicated. This is despite Porsche’s insistence that simplicity is their design hallmark.

Technology & Safety

2019 BMW X6 comes along with a 10.2” touchscreen complete with a slew of control features. It also comes along with extras like Apple CarPlay and BMW’s iDrive infotainment system which is both attractive and easy to operate, thanks to a wide range of input options. Keep in mind that the large high resolution display can be easily customized with an impressive split screen mode as well as personalized information. Safety features include blind spot monitoring, lane departure warning, automated emergency braking and adaptive cruise control complete with stop and go technology.

2020 Porsche 911 boasts of an infotainment system that supports Wi-Fi. It also boasts of voice commands and a center screens that features push button controls on the console. Buttons on the steering wheel to control the infotainment system appear to be thoughtful but somewhat distractive. For safety, the 2020 Porsche 911 boasts of automated emergency braking and blind spot monitoring.

Dynamic from start to finish and worth the adrenaline rush at top speed – that aptly captures what the 2019 BMW X6 performance is all about. The X6 is a good example of how well BMW has in recent times managed to standardize exceptional powertrains. Its 300 hp turbocharged 6 cylinder boats of power which it delivers in a silky rush.  The V8 powered 2019 X6 is only available with an all-wheel drive. However, the 6 cylinder engine mode offers either all wheel or rear drive. Both powertrains earn 18mpg city fuel efficiency, which is a real bargain to expect from the beast that the 2019 X6 is.

The Bottom Line

You do not come across cars with powerful engines and transmission systems that are fuel efficient. 2019 BMW X6 breaks that norm. It delivers when it matters the most. It remains stylish and dominant on the road too.
