The 2019 BMW 7-Series has BMW’s signature driver-focused dashboard, providing comfortable reach to the controls. The controls use physical buttons and has a nice, tactile feel to them. There is also the option to get ventilation, massage and heating functions for the seats – providing a truly luxurious ride in the 7-Series. However, some might still feel claustrophobic because of the large dashboard in the front. Despite the great fit and finish of the XTS, its interior still pales in comparison to the higher-end cabins offered by the 7-Series and Mercedes-Benz’s S-class.
Technology & Safety
BMW’s excellent infotainment system is shown on a 10.2-inch display and can be controlled using gesture controls, the conventional rotary dial or using the touch-sensitive screen. There’s an intelligent Personal Assistant installed as well. This can be used to do simple tasks and change certain controls within the car. In addition to the mandatory safety features in most cars, the 4-Series has a wide range of hi-tech safety systems in place. Traffic assistant, Lane departure warnings and cruise control are some examples of the additional safety features.
The 2019 Cadillac XTS comes with the CUE infotainment system that is projected on a 8.0-inch touchscreen. While the interface is responsive and snappy, it is disappointing that the buttons that’s used to control it can be difficult and confusing to use. A 8-speaker Bose audio system, phone connectivity and wireless charging port comes standard in all XTS cars. Automatic braking, Lane Keep Assist, Lane Change Alert and Forward Collision Alert are some of the additional safety features in place.
Performance
For a better comparison, we will compare the base versions of both models. With a standard six-cylinder, 2.9-litre engine, the 2019 Cadillac XTS reaches a maximum output of 304 horsepower. The 2019 BMW 7-Series has a 6-cylinder, 3.0-litre turbocharged engine that has a horsepower of 261. The 7-Series is the more fuel efficient car in this comparison, offering a higher gas mileage than that of the S-class. Furthermore, the 7-Series offers a wider selection of engines to choose from.
