Competition BMW is proud to announce and discuss the first vehicle of its kind in BMW’s history, the BMW i4 M50, and the first all-electric Gran Coupe, the BMW i4 eDrive40!
The innovation of BMW really has the opportunity to shine with the newly released BMW i4. With two models in its class, BMW has really exceeded expectations. The BMW i4 M50 keeps the same sporty characteristics that BMW is known for and BMW M has rolled together these iconic specs with next-gen features, striving to find a perfect balance.
A perfect balance sought and achieved. BMWUSA encourages customers to “discover the intense combination of electric innovation and expert engineering” in regards to the BMW i4 M50.This brand new electric vehicle has near perfect weight distribution, which helps with responsiveness and an overall better balance for the vehicle. This 50/50 weight distribution does not take away from the aggressive and renowned BMW bodystyling, with Kidney Front Grilles and the Hofmeister kink.
The i4 M50 is all-wheel drive, powered by dual electric motors injecting power to all four of the wheels independently. These dual motors also boost horsepower and acceleration; The 2022 BMW i4 M50 goes from 0-60 mph in 3.7 seconds, with a maximum horsepower of 536 mph. The body material also strives to increase speed and precise handling, the suspension components, body panels and chassis are made from lightweight aluminum. The Adaptive M Suspension keeps consistency in regards to ride height and comfort. The BMW i4 M50 is the speedier version of the i4s, making it clear to see from the badging of BMW M on the exterior, to the M Sport Brakes and M wheels.
The BMW i4 eDrive40 might not be quicker than the i4 M50, but it holds its own definitely. As the first ever fully electric Gran Coupe, the excitement does not stop there. The i4 eDrive40 goes 0-60 mph in 5.5 seconds with a maximum of 335 mph. The reduction of maximum horsepower is a fair trade-off, considering the i4 eDrive40 gets over 30 more miles of range in comparison to the i4 M50. The i4 eDrive40 has a range up to 301 miles, the i4 M50 has a 270 mile range. The i4 eDrive40 has a rear-mounted motor with rear-wheel drive. Although this vehicle does not come standard with BMW M trim or enhancements, there is always an option! The available M Sport Package includes the M Steering Wheel, Aerodynamic Kit, rear spoiler and exclusive wheel designs.
Both of these vehicles created by BMW are champions of a more sustainable future, this is due their fully electric capabilities. This innovation in fuel can raise multiple questions for customers, the first question possibly being, “How do I charge my car?” BMW has you covered!
There are various ways to charge your new electric vehicle. BMW has partnered with Electrify America, and offers 2 years of complimentary 30-minute charging sessions. Every BMW i4 comes with the new Flexible Fast Charger. This is a portable device that is compatible with any 120V or 240V outlet. When charging on a 240V outlet, you can charge your BMW i4 from 0%-100% in under 10 hours. You can also charge your new electric car from 0% to 100% in under 10 hours with a BMW Wallbox at home. This Wallbox is a Level 2 charger that gets installed in the garage, creating rapid charging whenever you need it. BMW is releasing a third generation of the Wallbox by the second half of 2022!
The sustainability of the BMW i4 does not stop at the type of fuel intake. BMW reduced their use of raw materials to using 100% renewable energy at production plants. BMW also makes their own batteries as well, using the aforementioned 100% renewable energy to constantly work towards reducing CO2 emissions globally. Thinking in the present and the future is something BMW is conscious of; BMW has also developed a recycling process which recycles up to 96% of their battery components in the future. When purchasing a fully electric BMW, Customers are eligible for a federal tax credit up to $7,500, lower lifetime maintenance costs and customers often receive preferential parking for increased convenience while charging.
