February 22nd, 2023 by

BMW edged out Subaru, last year’s winner, to earn first place in Consumer Reports’ annual Auto Brand Report Card Rankings. These rankings strive to illustrate which automakers produce the safest, best-performing, reliable vehicles. Consumer Reports is able to make a highly educated decision based on their independent testing and through member surveys. The Consumer Research, Testing and Advocacy Organization, Consumer Report (CR) conducts more than 50 science-based tests on every vehicle it evaluates. To remain unbiased, CR buys all of its test cars anonymously and does not accept free samples for any ratings or evaluations.

Fun Fact! CR testers drive a total of 500,000 miles a year in the vehicles that CR evaluates!

The Factors for BMW’s 2023 Takeover

Competing against 32 brands of vehicles, BMW USA took the first-place crown on Consumer Reports’ 2023 Auto Brand Report Card Rankings. Competition BMW of Smithtown is immensely proud of BMW and the vehicles created! We love seeing progress from our beloved BMW vehicles get awarded as much as we love seeing them get brought into our showrooms then into your garages and lives!

BMW propelled itself up 2 spots from the 2022 CR Auto Brand Report Card Rankings. During the year of 2022, BMW was awarded third place in regards to the Top Overall Spot rankings.

The first-place decision from CR auto testers was unanimous: BMW builds many full-featured, high-performing and reliable models of vehicles.

“It’s not surprising to see [BMW] at the top of our brand rankings.”

-Jake Fisher, Senior Director of Automotive Testing at Consumer Reports.

This title-win from Consumer Report is based on BMW’s great “Road Test” scores as well as impressive, incomparable results in CR’s reliability and owner satisfaction categories.

Consumer Report tests the handling, comfort, convenience, fuel economy and braking of the decided vehicle, resulting in its “Road Test” score.

Following the Road Test Score, CR then generates its “Overall Score”. The Overall Score from Consumer Report consists of a combination of the Test Drive Score with various other tested elements. These elements stem from the predicted reliability, owner satisfaction (based on member surveys), key safety features and crash-test results (if available) for all models tested.

BMW has continued to impress auto-testers, reviewers, owners and the auto-industry as a whole. Competition BMW cannot be more proud of BMW USA for continuing to progress the brand’s overall face, performance and vehicles. As BMW continues to climb to higher ranks, Competition BMW of Smithtown is proud to continue to be your ticket to #BMWMTown !
