Just because you want a vehicle that is energy efficient doesn’t mean that you should have to sacrifice the power and luxury that you desire. The BMW iPerformance vehicles prove that you don’t have to. With the combination of an already powerful gas engine and an amped up electrical motor, each one of these hybrid models showcase superb performance, save you from making extra trips to the gas station, and contain the iconic BMW luxury that you require.

BMW Has Four iPerformance Models

Currently, BMW has released four outstanding plug-in hybrid models, the BMW 330e hybrid, BMW 530e hybrid, BMW 740e hybrid, and BMW X5 xDrive40e hybrid. Hybrid models use mainly gasoline power, but the electric motor improves its functioning and allows it to use less gas in the process. It also tends to intensify the power, which is never a bad thing. Let’s take a closer look at each model to see what they have to offer.

  • BMW 330e Hybrid
This stunning sedan comes with a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine and a lithium-ion powered electric motor. The combination of the two produce 248-horsepower, 310 pound-feet of torque, and an EPA estimated combined 71 miles-per-gallon rating. It can also go from 0 to 60 in 5.9-seconds and has a top speed of 130 miles-per-hour.
  • BMW 530e Hybrid
A larger sedan, the BMW 530e contains a 2.0-liter TwinPower Turbo four-cylinder gas engine and a 9.2-kilowatt lithium-ion powered electric motor. This team works together to provide you with 248-horsepower and 310 pound-feet of torque. It receives an EPA estimated combined 72 miles-per-gallon and can go from 0 to 60 in 6.0-seconds.
  • BMW 740e Hybrid
This luxury sedan doesn’t just come with plenty of lavish features, but it also contains a 2.0-liter TwinPower Turbo inline four-cylinder gas engine and a high-powered high-voltage lithium-ion battery. The power these two produce equal a combined 322-horsepower and enough torque to get you from 0 to 60 in 5.1-seconds. You will also receive an EPA estimated combined miles-per-gallon rating of 64.
  • BMW X5 xDrive40e Hybrid
Similar in technology, but much different in design, the X5 SAV is the larger option in the plug-in hybrid offering. The standard 2.0-liter four-cylinder gas engine and lithium-ion powered eDrive motor provides this SUV with 308-horsepower, 332 pound-feet of torque, and an EPA estimated combined miles-per-gallon rating of 56. It also has enough power to make you get from 0 to 60 in 6.5-seconds.
