Forget About Tunes - the New BMW M5 Allows You to Crank up the Engine

Is the sound of a throaty engine music to your ears? If so, BMW has a treat for you. Recall the new 2012 M5? You know... the sporty four-door with 560 ponies of rearing-and-ready-to-go power. Well, BMW has created a fun, innovative technology to bring the voracious look and power of the new 2012 M5 into an adrenaline-pumping audio format.
We know, we know. You'd think a 560-hp engine wouldn't need to be amplified. But, BMW wanted to create the ultimate visceral experience. To do this, the Bavarian automaker has connected the BMW M5 super sport sedan's digital signal processor into the car's engine management system. Via this integration, the audio system is able to simulate the sound of a twin-turbocharged V8 under the hood, cranking out 550-plus-hp.
Of course, you'll be able to listen to and enjoy music, as well. The 2012, however, represents the first time BMW drivers have ever been able to hear the power of a super car's inaugural turbo engine from inside the cabin, in symphonic form. And, let us tell you, the high notes are enough to send chills up your spin.
