BMW Developing New System with Great Benefits

Why is BMW among the most popular in its class? Because, regardless of whether it takes the form of a convertible (i.e., 640i), coupe (i.e., 128i), sedan (i.e., 550i) or SAV (X5 xDrive35i), BMW is the best looking and the smartest. With svelte bodies built on a core foundation of intelligent driving strengthened via sensors aimed at helping drivers plan ahead - it's impossible not to "Like" (www.facebook.com/BMW) BMW .

The first bit of evidence indicating a future victory can be found in new BMW models currently available at Competition BMW of Smithtown, serving the greater St. James area. Specifically, we're talking about integrated semi-predictive, in-car sensors. Operative word: "semi-predictive"...  While BMW's in-car sensors are certainly better than nothing, the sensors are limited by both distance and time.

In recognizing this fact, the painstaking perfectionists at BMW have embarked on developing a dedicated system that networks not only BMW vehicles across longer distances, but with traffic lights. The ultimate goal, of course, is to give drivers as much time as possible to react to potential hazards such as traffic accidents and imminent red lights.

According to Karl-Ernst Steinberg, Head Of Information and Communications Technologies at BMW Group Research and Technology, the system promises invaluable peace of mind. "The more information I have about the rest of my journey..." he says.  "...For example, if I know in advance when traffic lights will change, or if I know that an auto accident has just happened further along the route - the more promptly I can react, which means I have less stress and can wither avoid hazardous situations altogether or at lease reduce the risk."1

Interested in learning more about BMW "Car-to-X"?  Stay tuned. Competition BMW of Smithtown, located at 599 Middle Country Road Saint James, NY 11780 promises more details (i.e., which new BMW model will get the late-breaking technology first), coming soon.
