BMW Charged Over Possible Partnership with GM

Right on the heels of BMW announcing a partnership with Japanese automaker Toyota, Competition BMW of Smithtown has learned of yet another potential alliance the Bavarian luxury automaker is stewing over. Continuing on the green trend, the latest is with GM and has to do with fuel-cell technology.

Why GM? Well, despite some of the negative press circulating  around the automaker in the past couple of years, they have their act together in the realm of advanced green technology and are in a sense considered one of the more aggressive go-getters in the fast-growing niche market.

While the talks are not yet formalized, inside sources indicate BMW and GM are close to reaching a formal agreement. Competition BMW of Smithtown has to say, if/when the deal comes to fruition, it will bring great things for loyalists of both brands. And, as BMW and GM occupy completely different segments of the overall auto industry, neither has to worry about the other being tempted to steal away valuable market share.

How exactly is the arrangement expected to work? Well, neither automaker is being overly generous with details...not yet, anyway. The most anyone knows right know is that if the venture happens, BMW will likely gain access to developments in GM's fuel-cell systems. As for the trade off, BMW will help fund the research and development costs required to perfect the technology.

To learn all of the particulars and more about how this highly-anticipated cooperation could enhance the green edge of the BMW performance and luxury you love, make sure you stay tuned. Competition BMW of Smithtown, located at 599 Middle Country Road Saint James, NY 11780 is dedicated to keeping you informed on this and all other late-breaking BMW news.
